The fourth-generation of the Honda Jazz was introduced to the global automotive market back in 2019 at the Tokyo Motor Show. One thing stood out with the car, however, and it was that it was lacking a front grille. In its home country of Japan, the Jazz is sold with five variants to choose from - Basic, Home, Ness, Crosstar, and Luxe. Each one of these variants caters to a specific niche in the market. Out of the five trim-levels, only the Crosstar variant had a conventional grille. When the Jazz officially went on sale in Japan in February, Honda decided to give its customers a grille as an optional accessory due to feedback from its buyers wanting one.

Now that the ongoing pandemic in China is slowing down, Honda is preparing to launch the all-new Jazz in the country. The Jazz will be slightly different from its Japanese counterpart, in that it will have a different bumper, a different set of headlights, and it will have a grille. Leaked photos of the Fit in China have confirmed these new design adjustments. With these design differences, the Fit now looks more similar to the Honda Jazz Modulo X concept that was presented in the 2020 Tokyo Auto Salon.
Along with the leaked photos of the normal Jazz is its higher-riding counterpart the Crosstar. For the Chinese market, it will look similar to the version that has been released in Japan. It will still carry over the same wheel design and side mirrors.
Powertrain options have not yet been announced by the Japanese brand for the Chinese market, however, signs point to it carrying over the previous generation’s 1.5-liter naturally aspirated motor that now makes 128hp a slight bump from its 120hp previous output. Transmission options still remain similar to that of the Japanese market as the hatchback will come with either a 5-speed manual or a CVT.
Honda Philippines has yet to announce if it will be bringing in the newest generation of the Jazz into the country. If it did, however, we have a hunch that it will look closer to the version that is found in China rather than the one that is being sold in Japan.
